Match report Life in the old dogs yet!!
After fielding a very young side last week this week we were the complete opposite with 6 gents over 40 and only one teenager!! And it was the "older" gentleman who performed this week. The skipper lost the toss and we were invited to bat, after losing Mels and Derek early the ship was steadied by Matt and Geoff who hit a chanceless, until he was caught, 51. Ben Hartfield, returning after a number of years, looked like he had never been away hitting an impressive 44. The innings fell away after the old boys had got out only Dwyer giving any resistance seeing us to 181. For exiles their skipper bowl 23 overs 6-78 cook also bowled well.
We took to the field confident of forcing a result, unfortunately a resolute final wicket stand which lasted 15 overs left us having to settle for a draw and ruing some missed chances. The pick of the bowlers being old man Ives who finished with 5-45 from his 15 overs. There were also notable contributions from Matt Keane and Ross Murphy.
Sorry for the old man theme. This is only my second report and already i'm struggling to keep them interesting!
