Match report A patched up Bury outfit came away with a creditable draw against high flying visitors, Northchurch.Arriving with nine men, the visitors won the toss and were obliged to bat first.Rob Stone (2/44) and Jim Beckett (1/72) both took early wickets as Northchurch struggled to gain a foothold but as the wicket eased wickets proved hard to come by as Hobley (82) and Eccles (56) added over 100 for the third wicket. From that point Bury struggled hard to reign in the runs and despite Steve Rider,s 20 over 2/71 and a couple of wickets for Tony Rymer (2/24) the visitors closed on 242/7

The Bury innings began badly, with Bryden back in the pavilion (eventually) for
8. Neil Darby and Edward Palmer then constructed a partnership of 113 in 25 overs leaving Bury in with a chance. Palmer struck a belligerent 62 and Darby a poised 92, and when his wicket fell the chances of victory had receded as the visitors set out to protect their total. Dominic Spong (16 no) and Alex Preston (10 no) ensured Bury passed the 200 mark and maximum batting points were secured.
