Match report The gods of coin tossing were with us on this hot, sticky day, so grind Southgate Adelaide down in the heat, then put them to the sword with our strong bowling line up. And that's what sort of happened (I love it when a plan comes together). Del Boy and I struggled for runs with accurate bowling, a slow wicket and an outfield that resembled Moss's hair last year. Still we figured it would be just as hard for them and they looked a very young side. Everybody chipped in and although 2.5 runs per over wasn't ideal, 130+ might be a winning score. Moss & Bernard added 30 for the 6th wicket and we weren't disappointed with 123.
We felt an early strike would get them rattled and Bernard (3-11) duly obliged in the first over, with solid support from newly-wed Kevin Ives (1-10) at the other end. Fleabag (1-10) replaced Ives and carried on the line and length displayed the week before. They were only scoring from loose deliveries and we weren't discouraged by the odd hoik over the top. With 5 down, Will Brady (2-19) replaced Bernard and exploited the batsmen's lack of footwork. He had the added joy of removing the off peg of somebody intent on flat-batting everything back. Tim Cozins (3-5) replaced Freeman and was instantly beating the bat with away swing, finishing off the final batsman and a great spell with 3 overs to go. A mention also for tealadies' favourite Moss who did a great job behind the stumps with 2 catches.
